Heritage on Sunday – Historical Archives and Library of Santa Casa

On Sundays it is possible to learn more about the historical and artistic heritage of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, in the context of a guided tour.

The historical documentation of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, present in about 3.5 km of shelves, consists mainly of documents on paper and parchment, photographs and sound recordings. It is the Historical Archive that coordinates and guarantees the functioning and custody of the institution's definitive and intermediate archives, as well as the old book library.

The Library (former Documentation Centre), created in 1963, has in its care the bibliographic collections of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, consisting of books, magazines and technical works. The collections deal with the areas of activity of Misericórdia de Lisboa, namely social action, health, education, culture, history of the Misericórdias, among others.

Free participation, by appointment, but limited to 15 participants. The meeting point is at the São Roque Museum.
