Exhibit relics? the reliquiarum project

Exhibit relics? the reliquiarum project

What are relics? Why relics? What relics are there? What relation do relics have to reliquaries? And how do they relate to the many lives and virtues of the saints? And with your carved and painted images? And what connection is there between devotees of saints, their relics and God? In conclusion, how to describe and study the extraordinary collection of relics of the Church and Museum of São Roque? These are some of the many questions that draw the reliquiarum project. The new methodologies, good museological practices and internationalization that reliquiarum will entail result from its mission to study relics. The exhibition is little more: showing a project on display by the team that will investigate it. Make people think and know about our bibliographic and documentary supports, our partners across Europe, our doubts and research questions to be posed to the many, so small and hidden relics.
