Work dedicated to the centenary history of the Museum of São Roque, from its genesis to the present day, published in the context of the commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the museum space of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. This book presents one of the first art museums in Portugal, whose extremely valuable and diverse collection has always been a unique reference for the study of Portuguese and European art. Through this work, the reader follows the trail of the historical chronicle of the S. Roque Museum, from the origin and constitution of the collection, through the genesis of the museum space and the first presentation of the collection in 1905, without forgetting the beginnings of a museum that had the first designation of Museum of the Treasure of the Capella de S. João Baptista in S. Roque, until today. Through history, a unique collection is presented, composed of pieces, mostly of sacred art, with a wide artistic and typological scope - with emphasis on the painting, sculpture, goldsmith and textiles -, representative of the evolution of Art. between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. An edition published with the support of the Portuguese Institute of Museums / Portuguese Museum Network and the Lisbon City Council.
