Chapel of Saint John the Baptist in the process of applying for National Treasure

The Chapel of Saint John the Baptist is recognized as one of the most notable achievements of European Baroque. Without parallel in the national artistic heritage, it was built in Rome in the 18th century, commissioned by King John V, and later transferred to Lisbon in 1747. This example of Roman sacred art is today a unique testimony to the great artistic commissions and the patronage policy of King John V.
