50 years of the Calouste Gulbenkian Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation Center

The Calouste Gulbenkian Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation Center (CRPCCG) celebrated half a century of existence on November 9, 2020. In these 50 years, many children, young people, and adults with cerebral palsy, caregivers, families, technicians, doctors, and other professionals have experienced significant moments of their lives here.
The CRPCCG has been a place of innovation, modernity, dedication, and joy since its foundation. Great strides have been made here in the development of therapies and treatments for childhood cerebral palsy, always with a strong desire to learn about and implement the most advanced practices of each era and to carefully and knowledgeably apply the latest techniques. The close and individualized intervention, grounded in transdisciplinary teamwork, has allowed for the treatment of cerebral palsy and other central nervous system diseases in a comprehensive manner, paying attention to the various areas and stages of the users' lives – health, social action, education, and leisure.
From Neurodevelopment Treatment to the use of cutting-edge technologies, the production and application of knowledge is carried out with the aim of enhancing the characteristics of each user and responding to the needs of each family.
This book celebrates the harmony, work, and dedication of the great teams of professionals who have worked at the CRPCCG since 1970 and those who today follow in their footsteps.

The book includes contributions and testimonies from people who know and have interacted with the CRPCCG, whether as technicians, users, or friends. Everyone highlights the high quality of the work done there and the competence of its professionals. Thus, the words are given to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Edmundo Martinho, Sérgio Cintra, Rosário Costa Lopes, António Canau, Manuel Marques, Florinda Marques, and John Coughlan.
