6_msr_08_ Photography*: Renovation/Expansion of the Museum of São Roque

Catalog of author photographs created by a collective of five photographers, members of Equivalentes - a cultural association, a non-profit entity, established in 2006 with the aim of promoting and disseminating photography and photographic culture - who documented and interpreted the process of remodeling and expanding the Museum of São Roque of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. This publication, a bilingual edition in Portuguese and English, is structured in six parts: exit, begin, build, restore, finish, and populate. Verbs that translate different moments of the museum's requalification process, from the removal of artworks to their repositioning, images captured between 2006 and 2008. In the introductory text to this publication, the director of the Museum of São Roque, Teresa Morna, argues that “the participation of the Equivalentes team thus provides a different and innovative perspective on this unique artistic heritage, awakening in the observer, beyond immediate observation, a meeting with the interior of the image, where beauty is discovered and reinvented.”
