8 OUT | Workshop | Tea Ceremony, by Lily Wa

Proposal for holding a tea ceremony, highlighting the shared stories between Portugal and Asia through the perspective of tea. Inspired by her travels in search of the rare yellow tea Jun Shan Yin Zhen on Junshan Island in Hunan, the buds of Meng Ding Huang Ya on Mengding Mountain in Sichuan, and the precious oolong Da Hong Pao in the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian – teas appreciated by Chinese connoisseurs for their subtlety and historical prestige. It offers authentic tastings that evoke ancestral landscapes while sharing stories from the tea fields she visited.
By merging these elements with Portugal's colonial ties, such as the role of Macau in the tea trade and cultivation in the Azores, the ceremony will illuminate intercultural dialogues, perfectly aligning with the emphasis of the Casa Ásia collection – Francisco Capelo Collection, on Asian arts and Portuguese connections.

Biographical Note
Lilly Wa is a tea ceremony practitioner with over a decade of experience, rooted in her Portuguese heritage and enriched by extensive travels in Asia. Residing in Lisbon, she organizes immersive sessions that combine Gongfu Cha from China and Chanoyu from Japan, promoting mindfulness and cultural connections.
