The Church of São Roque in Lisbon, built starting in 1566, is part of the “first generation” of Portuguese Jesuit churches.
The church we know today would be somewhat different, however, from the one that was completed in the late 16th century. In this text, we propose the idea that it has undergone significant changes throughout its history, especially in its interior.
