Mariana, Maria José, Antónia, Caetano, Amada, Ernesto, Constantino, Josefa Henriqueta, Alfredo, Maria, and Tecla. Eleven children born between 1805 and 1863. Most lived less than a year. However, they carried with them signs and messages full of hope for a return home. Left at the foundling wheel, these eleven children had in common letters from some deck, attached to their swaddling clothes. Identifying tags for future recognition, simple marks with whimsical cutouts.
