The building where the Museum of São Roque is located is part of the architectural ensemble of the Casa Professa de São Roque, owned by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. It is located in Largo da Misericórdia. This ensemble has a rich history that dates back to 1506. The building we see today is the result of an evolution over several centuries. During the renovation works of the new Museum of São Roque, various structures were uncovered, testifying to the many changes this space has undergone.
It became pertinent to document the existence of these architectural structures, as they would be altered or covered during the museum's remodeling works. This work was carried out by the technicians from the company Topometria, Topografia e Projectos de Arquitectura, Lda and In Situ, Conservação de Bens Culturais, Lda. This article presents the results obtained from the survey; observation, identification, and analysis of the configurations and materials that make up some of the walls of the Museum, in the transition area between the church and the Casa Professa.
