Article: The Martyrs of the Legion of Thebes in the Church of Saint Roch

The tradition of preserving and venerating relics of the saints dates back to the origins of Christianity and was initially linked to the cult of martyrs.
We can say that the first reliquaries were their tombs and, later, the buildings and altars built over these tombs.
