Azulejos - Painéis do século XVI ao século XX
Inventory of existing tile panels in some of the buildings of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. This detailed research work not only makes known the valuable collection of tiles preserved by the secular institution, but also takes the reader on a journey through the evolution of the art of tile in Portugal, from its beginnings, in the 16th century, to contemporary times, in the second half of the twentieth century. In the words of the author, “the course of Portuguese tiles over time is notoriously exemplified through the magnificent collection integrated in the various historic buildings of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa”. The work is organized chronologically, distributed in 140 descriptive and illustrated cards, grouped according to the architectural nuclei in which the panels were originally inserted. The tile collections of the Church of S. Roque, Palácio de Marqueses de Minas, Convent of S. Pedro de Alcântara, Quinta das Flores (Palácio das Marquesa do Alegrete), Convento dos Inglesinhos (Colégio de S. Pedro and S. . Paulo), among others.
