Longevity and Neurosciences is presented as the theme of the fifth volume of the Technical Notebooks of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa.
Accompanying the increase in life expectancy, neurodegenerative diseases have been registering a significant growth. Incurable and highly debilitating, the impact of these pathologies is far from being exhausted in Health, contaminating the entire society across the board.
At the same time, it is possible to recognize the present moment as one of the most extraordinary in terms of neuroscientific advances. Due to the importance they assume, with this Technical Notebook Santa Casa intends to make another contribution towards sharing new lines of investigation and the new and increasingly effective therapeutic proposals that result from them. In addition to medical-scientific approaches, there are also reflections on legal realities and ethical-philosophical issues that arise as a result of problems associated with longevity or the practice of medicine itself.
