Technical Notebooks 08 - Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage

The valuable cultural heritage of the Misericórdia de Lisboa and the ongoing effort of the institution towards its utmost preservation constitute the theme of the eighth volume of the Technical Notebooks of the Santa Casa.

Giving voice to the specialists, the methods and techniques of conservation and restoration applied to a unique collection are revealed. It includes works as diverse as the “magnificent” collection of textiles from the Chapel of São João Baptista to the reliquary busts of the Church and Museum of São Roque, passing through the tile panels of the anteroom of the sacristy of São Roque, or even the unique set of signs of exposed children. Not forgetting the Commitment of the Brotherhood of Misericórdia, the founding document of this Brotherhood that still inspires all actions of the Santa Casa.
