Catalog and selected inventory of the collections of the Museu de São Roque da Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lisbon. This publication presents a narrative and illustrated presentation of the valuable collection preserved in the São Roque Museum, a heritage of great social, historical and artistic value from donations, inheritances and acquisitions over the more than 500 years of existence of the secular institution. After a brief summary of the genesis and evolution of this museum space, the reader is invited to discover a set of extremely representative collections in terms of Portuguese, European and Portuguese-Oriental art. The catalog is organized into seven major nuclei belonging to the museum collection: painting, sculpture, goldsmithery, reliquaries, altar fronts, oriental art and the Chapel of São João Baptista, sets accompanied by inventory sheets of representative specimens of the different nuclei, in a total of 110 pieces. This publication was published as part of the most recent remodeling and expansion project for the São Roque Museum, completed in 2008.
