Esplendor e Devoção: Os relicários de São Roque

To mark the solemn opening of the V Centenary Celebrations, we proposed to share the very rich Collection of Reliquaries from the Church of S. Roque, composed of works dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries, coming from the Church of S. Roque, bequeathed to the Misericórdia de Lisboa, with all its assets, by D. José I, in 1768.

The Reliquaries of S. Roque constitute a group of the greatest importance, an inventory of which has been carried out in recent years. In addition to the spiritual dimension of the relics themselves, we find, in the artistic reliquaries that protect them,
testimonies from the most diverse origins - from Portugal to Japan, from India to Germany.
