Splendor and Devotion: The Reliquaries of Saint Roch

To mark the solemn opening of the Celebrations of the 5th Centenary, we proposed to share the rich Collection of Reliquaries from the Church of S. Roque, consisting of works dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries, coming from the Church of S. Roque, bequeathed to the Misericórdia de Lisboa, along with all its assets, by D. José I, in 1768.

The Reliquaries of S. Roque constitute a collection of great importance, whose inventory has been carried out in recent years. Beyond the spiritual dimension of the relics themselves, we find, in the artistic reliquaries that protect them,
witnesses of the most diverse origins - from Portugal to Japan, from India to Germany.
