Work dedicated to the Weale Album and the exhibition "From Rome to Lisbon: An Album for the Magnanimous King." Conceived around the so-called Weale Album – a volume consisting of a set of drawings made in Rome in the 18th century to inform the king about the progress of his art commissions – the exhibition, installed at the Museum of São Roque, of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), is built around the key idea of the journey between Rome and Lisbon during the reign of King João V, understood as a process of cultural and artistic exchange, seeking to recognize what actually traveled: words, drawings, works of art. Two hundred years after its loss, the Weale Album returns to Lisbon thanks to the sponsorship of its restoration, presentation, and study by SCML, as part of a partnership with the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris, where it is currently preserved in the library. The book From Rome to Lisbon presents the album and the exhibition through studies by national and international specialists, analyzing its journey and framing it in the historical context of the João V commissions.
