Community Intervention: knowledge and practices of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisbon

Over time, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa has witnessed the different moments of growth of the capital, often marked by inequalities, both social and urban. The institutional position it occupies in the city has simultaneously conferred upon it great responsibilities in the processes of inclusion and community building, especially in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods. It is these experiences of Community Development by the technicians of Santa Casa in Lisbon during the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century that this book systematizes, outlining a path of learning and observations that, more than a summary of the past, constitute proposals for models and approaches for the future.
