Community Intervention: knowledge and practices of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa

Over time, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa witnessed the different moments of the capital's growth, often marked by inequalities, both social and urban. The institutional position it occupies in the city has simultaneously given it great responsibilities in the processes of inclusion and construction of communities, especially in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods. It is these experiences of Community Development of the technicians of Santa Casa in Lisbon in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st that this book systematizes, tracing a path of learning and observations that, more than a summary of the past, constitute proposals for models and approaches for the future.
