More than accessibility: value

This book reflects the importance of the theme as the appreciation of the person with a disability and their skills that go beyond the disability.

The project was born from the active intervention of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa in this area, in its various biopsychosocial aspects aiming at quality, well-being, and the recognition of the value of the person with a disability and the need to value people with disabilities who stand out for their personal, social, emotional, and physical characteristics.

These are notes about their life stories and what they have in common, which can serve as an example to other people with disabilities, focusing on values, resilience, determination, ways of overcoming, and coping strategies used to overcome life's obstacles. We believe that the result was very positive, and that is why we also share it.

The book was coordinated by Cristina Vaz de Almeida, Director of the Support Product Management Service (SGPA) of SCML, and co-coordinated by Leonor Anachoreta Matoso (SGPA).
