As Portuguese Misericórdias, aware of the importance and necessity to identify, preserve, enhance, and make available their vast heritage, have published works and studies that allow for a greater understanding of History, perpetuating the memory and identity of these grand Portuguese institutions. The present Catalog accompanying the Bibliographic Exhibition The presence of the Misericórdias in the Library of the Santa Casa aims to facilitate and promote access to the information available about the history and heritage of these Institutions, resulting from the sharing of bibliographic resources between the Misericórdia of Lisbon and other Santa Casas, with the main objective of contributing to the dissemination of this valuable collection of 160 bibliographic references related to these charitable Institutions.
