Os Expostos da Roda da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa
Catalog of the temporary exhibition dedicated to the theme of the Expostos da Roda da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, opened to the public in 2001, the result of research work that leads to a reflection on the unique role of Santa Casa in supporting unprotected children. In this inventory, 63 pieces are described and illustrated, including 57 exhibit signs, documents and artifacts that accompanied abandoned children and placed in the care of the Misericórdia de Lisboa, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a set of writings revealing the experiences of the time, accompanied by artifacts with a symbolic, magical and religious meaning, a core with a strong emotional charge.
