Catalog of the temporary exhibition dedicated to the Social Games of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, organized by the S. Roque Museum in 2004. This publication reveals the vast heritage linked to the social games of Santa Casa, a unique collection in Portugal, of which royal decrees, engravings, old Lottery tickets and plans, advertising and humorous posters, as well as valuable photographic and audiovisual records, stand out. It is a collection of undeniable documentary importance that invites you to travel through two more centuries of this activity, from the creation of lotteries - granted by royal decree of D. Maria I in 1793 to the Misericórdia de Lisboa - until the present day. , passing through the new games created in the second half of the 20th century. An approach to the history and actuality of social games, to which are added a look at lotteries in pre-contemporary literature and an analysis of the graphic aspects around social games. This catalog also makes known the games supervised by Santa Casa as a source of funding for the institution's social causes, but also for projects by many other entities, in the field of health, social action, culture and sport throughout the country.
