Inventory and cataloging of the collections of goldsmithing and illumination that are part of the collection of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, a valuable collection that includes about 300 works of art illustrated in this volume. Regarding the goldsmithing collection, it mainly consists of pieces for worship or ornamentation of images, as evidenced by a countless number of crowns and glories, as well as a diverse set of liturgical objects, originating from both the reserve and the permanent exhibition of the Museu de S. Roque, as well as from the Church of S. Roque, and also a core of works existing in the chapel of the Orthopedic Hospital of Sant’Ana, in Parede. As for the illumination collection, a small but precious collection of illuminated books and documents is revealed in the pages of this publication, which, although not numerous, are representative of European illumination art over four centuries, from the mid-1500s to the early 20th century. A publication issued on the occasion of the 500th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa.
