In-depth look at the architectural heritage of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, a unique real estate collection identified and illustrated in two volumes. This research and inventory work promotes knowledge about a set of properties of high historical and artistic value that express the evolution of Portuguese architecture between the 16th and 20th centuries. This first volume, dedicated to religious and erudite civil architecture, analyzes the architectural space of seven buildings of the Santa Casa, erected in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries: two religious buildings – the Church and Professed House of São Roque and the Convent of São Pedro de Alcântara – and five palaces – Palace of the Marquises of Minas, Building on Rua da Rosa nos 269 to 277, Palace Paiva de Andrada, Palace Monte-Real, and Palace of Quinta Alegre. Aspects of integrated heritage are also addressed, focusing mainly on the thematic areas of Painting, Carving, Marble Inlays, Tilework, and Epigraphy. Finally, the publication presents inventory sheets with detailed information about each of these buildings, complemented by architectural drawings and photographs of them. A publication released with the support of the Portuguese Institute of Museums / Portuguese Museum Network.
