An in-depth look at the architectural heritage of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, a unique real estate estate identified and illustrated in two volumes. This research and inventory work promotes knowledge about a set of properties of high historical and artistic value that express the evolution of Portuguese architecture between the 16th and 20th centuries. This first volume, dedicated to erudite religious and civil architecture, analyzes the architectural space of seven Santa Casa buildings, built in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries: two religious buildings – the Church and Professa de São Roque and the Convent of São Pedro de Alcântara – and five palaces – Palácio dos Marqueses de Minas, Building at Rua da Rosa 269 to 277, Palácio Paiva de Andrada, Palácio Monte-Real and Palácio da Quinta Alegre. Aspects of the integrated heritage are also addressed, focusing essentially on the thematic areas of Painting, Carving, Marble Embedded, Tiling and Epigraphy. Finally, the publication presents inventory sheets with detailed information on each of these buildings, complemented with architectural drawings and photographs. An edition published with the support of the Portuguese Institute of Museums / Portuguese Museum Network.
