In-depth look at the architectural heritage of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, a unique real estate collection identified and illustrated in two volumes. This research and inventory work promotes knowledge about a set of properties of high historical and artistic value that express the evolution of Portuguese architecture between the 16th and 20th centuries. This second volume, divided into two tomes, is dedicated to income-generating buildings (housing and offices), single-family residences, funerary architecture, and assistance and health facilities of the Misericórdia de Lisboa, and analyzes a set of 43 buildings constructed between the late 18th century and the 20th century, mostly located in the city of Lisbon, some of which are classified, organized according to a typological and chronological order. In this tome II of volume II, the facilities of the Misericórdia de Lisboa and its assistance and health equipment are analyzed, totaling 14 properties, including the São Roque Complex, the Sant’Ana Orthopedic Hospital, and the Alcoitão Rehabilitation Medicine Center, the Dr. José Domingos Barreiro Health Center, the Pousal Social Work, five properties built to house childhood facilities, and also two remaining examples of the economic kitchens founded by the Duchess of Palmela. Finally, the publication presents inventory sheets with detailed information about each of these buildings, complemented by architectural drawings and photographs of them. A publication released with the support of the Portuguese Institute of Museums / Portuguese Museums Network.
