Workshop Public Policies on Longevity, held on July 13, 14, and 15, 2020
The increase in longevity should be recognized and understood as one of the main achievements of the 20th century, requiring different levels of approaches and adaptations in the field of public policies, considering the multidisciplinarity that is intended to be summoned and the interdisciplinarity that is desired to be achieved in responses, opportunities, and multidimensional challenges. The transversality of the longevity of contemporary societies constitutes one of the most striking features of the contributions of the speakers of the Workshop Public Policies on Longevity, with impacts on various dimensions of the life cycle, such as family, employment, income, protection systems, qualifications and skills, science, among others.
The participation of various social partners, stakeholders, and experts enabled a broad explanation for understanding and interpreting the national reality, identifying current and future expectations and constraints, to effectively respond to people's needs in a real, systematic, and holistic manner.
It was an important moment of collaborative expression, deepening, updating, and solidifying knowledge and reflections, favoring a new framework of guidelines and responses capable of meeting the demands associated with longevity, in a logic of complementarity and commitment to current and future trends, integrating them while considering the specificities of people and the Portuguese reality.
