"When I was eleven years old, my cousin had me make a rice dish with chicken for dinner," recalls Emília Torres, in one of the texts that opens the book "Recipes of Life. Feelings with Flavor," a collection of recipes authored by various users of different facilities of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. The initiative to publish this work, which originated from Santa Casa, arises within the framework of the European Year of Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity. It is the concern to share the experiences and knowledge of the elderly with the younger generations that makes "Recipes of Life. Feelings with Flavor" much more than just a cookbook. It is a journey through memory and the episodes surrounding each person's learning, intertwined with the flavors of fish stews, Valencian rice, the countless ways to cook cod, or the timeless regional sweets. Its reading evokes other times, calling upon products from the land and sea, ingredients that bring together different generations from north to south of the country.
