The process of reorganizing the social action of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, started in 2013, was oriented towards a closer, integrated and interdisciplinary in the city, having contributed to changing the perception of problems and the way of confronting them. The focus was on using the transversality and complementarity of various services to resolve complex situations. The Reference for Management of Proximity Development and Intervention Units (UDIP) offers an overview of this form of intervention based on individual empowerment, on the one hand, and on the collaborative methodologies of integrated governance, on the other. A useful tool at a time of paradigm transition, it allows coordinating the action of the UDIP directors in an integrated, innovative and open way to internal and external collaboration, in a true culture of networking. This book is part of the Sebentas Collection of Social Action, an editorial line dedicated to sharing knowledge acquired and consolidated through practice, in the awareness, however, that this knowledge is always under permanent construction and improvement.
