Gates that Speak - The Lisbon Mitra Cathedral |Temporary exhibition

The exhibition brings together historical documents, photographs, heritage objects and testimonies that help visitors learn about the different stages of Mitra, from its creation as a space for shelter and assistance to its integration into the Lisbon Misericórdia.

The exhibition is the result of collaborative work involving several entities, including Lisbon City Council, the Marvila Parish Council, the Public Security Police, the National Archive of Torre do Tombo, the Higher Institute of Social Service, Lusíada University, the Marvila School Group, Cascais City Council, Quinta do Pisão, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Cascais and the Ephemera Archive.

“Gates That Speak - The Mitra of Lisbon” is open to the public until December 22, 2026, at Rua do Açúcar, Beco da Mitra, 64, in Lisbon. 
It can be visited on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Admission is free.
